tech tip- command A, C, V

Heres a tech tip for my peers, On a Macbook, if you are analyzing lengthy scientific articles and would like to jump to key points, simply hold command + 'f' to produce a search bar. In the search bar, you may type in key-words to jump to them, as well as highlight them, throughout the infinitely long article. Also the commands I use most often and some you might not know is the highlight, copy and paste options. Highlight= command + A ( 'a' stands for all) Copy= command + c Paste= command + v

Story Week 15- Arachne

Image
For my final story for this class, I wanted to share a story about the myth of Arachne. I've recently been reading a lot of these myths or folklore stories and I actually really enjoy them. So I might consider taking Laura's other class that focuses on myths. Ahhhhh... The story of Arachne. We have heard of lots of instances in the mythological world where Gods can transform into other things such as animals or another life form. This is common within their world and most of the time provides them an advantage. Within that there are still mortals that can undergo contortions but they are often unwanted and cursed upon them. Arachne was a young beautiful lady who had a great talent of weaving the most divine threads. People from her town always come to watch her spin her thread and create glorious pieces of art. She was so good, it almost seemed like the thread was just coming from her fingers. After a while of people always praising her work, she became so prideful and

" The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the Earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spiders web."    -Pablo Picasso Do you ever wonder where the first spider came from or where their place in life came to be? Why are these aracnid animals so scary but create such beautiful webs? Today Im sharing notes of the myth of Arachne. -In mythology, we see people being able to change and shapeshift into their other forms at their own say so -This is common in important Gods and their abilities - For many morals, the mutations were often unwanted  - Arachne was the daughter of a tradesmen who spent his days dying cloth the darkest shades of purple - She could spin a weave so good that people came around from all over to watch her hands work - After a while her head got a little big and she made a claim that angered the gods - Arachne refused to see weaving as a gift from the gods  - The Goddess of wisd

Tech Tip, Screenshot

I think one thing I was always frustrated with was the inability to capture things that appeared on your screen, or wanted to show someone what appeared on your screen but didn't know how to do that. One great thing I've learned is how to take a screenshot of your computer screen. All you need to do is press command + shift + 4 and you can drag and select which portion of the screen you'd like to screenshot. This has become very helpful to me in the past few weeks. Easily one of the most useful tech tips.

Reading Notes: Myths A & B ( T & W )

Image
Tuesdays & Wednesdays Reading Notes on one page because of their similarities and order if events What is a Myth? - The word myth is not exactly a word that has a solid definition - We have seen people use this as a word that shows something false - That is actually a myth ( insert joke here ) - Here we have a situation where we don't have solid definition of the word tale because it's described in many different ways - Here we usually see it as a story that is not meant to be taken seriously  -significant and staying power are two essential things that myths show that is why they keep the stories going after thousands and years - We see a lot of myths as origin stories where they describe how the world started - we see many cultures have stories of how the world and the people in it came to be and why they exist - this is a vast subject to tackle considering there are science and religion that fight against these myth stories - we believe that these stories w

Story Lab Week 14

Image
I used the crash course video and wrote my thoughts over the video. To start, the video mentions that the topics of Mythology are endless; he describes it as mixing a bunch of different ice cream flavors and slapping a name on it. Many myths are very, very, very old, which is why you can hear a lot of myths told in different ways. Stories get changed over time, and events are added, changed, or taken away from the story over time to modernize it. A lot of these myths are not translated in their original form. People are still unsure about the interpretation of these stories or why they exist. Myth has a blurry line with religion, and it hard to separate them because of their variety of stories. In some myth stories, it explains the origins of life or what we call an "origin story." It contains content for why our earth has these instances, such as why the flowers grow, where the sunsets. This is where religion and mythology get confused. I am not religious, so I enjoy thes

Famous Last Words

Wow! This semester is almost over which seems crazy to me. I feel like this semester really flew by because of how busy I really was. This might be my famous last words for the semester so im going to incorperated everything. When I first started this class, I felt like it was a lot to keep up with and there was a lot of new things to learn which kind of scared me because I thought I was always doing it wrong. I then noticed that there really is no wrong way to blog because of the uniqueness of everyones blog, and every is very different in their own good way. I now have no issue with blogging and I actually learned a lot of important tech tips from this class and a little grammar skills I need to brush up on.I like how everyone is really encouraging about the stories and I create and how I can take pride and publish something I put a lot of time and effort in to. I wish that there were more classed like this where you can show lots of personal interesting details about yourself. I f

Week 8 Comments & Feedback

The feedback from people in this class has helped me a lot when I'm unsure of something. The criteria we write about may be hard to interpret and I think several people have helped me with my writing skills and what sounds better. I think it's my favorite part of the class that we give each feedback because I want to know what people think about my work and how I can improve it. I also enjoy giving feedback because I know I enjoy hearing other people's ideas. I think its something I still have room for improvement on. Me this semester

Week 8 Reading & Writing

Week eight already? It seems like this class has flown by! I mean this semester... I enjoy this picture of Rama and Sita and how it portrays them. This semester for me has been really busy, starting a new job and moving in the process has made everything a lot harder for me than it normally would have been. I need this review week to catch up on a few things I've been wanting to change of my portfolio. I would like to make it more eye-catching or add some more personal details. I also need this week to catch up on some TLC around my house. I must say I think that this last reading we did was very confusing for me to understand and keep up with characters, It was way more work for me than it should have been just trying to keep the storyline straight. I think I enjoyed our first story more than this second one. I don't think my notes are the best because I'm not used to doing this yet so I haven't mastered a note-taking strategy. I'm hoping that this class wi
