Reading Notes: Myths A & B ( T & W )
Tuesdays & Wednesdays Reading Notes on one page because of their similarities and order if events
What is a Myth?
- The word myth is not exactly a word that has a solid definition
- We have seen people use this as a word that shows something false
- That is actually a myth ( insert joke here )
- Here we have a situation where we don't have solid definition of the word tale because it's described in many different ways
- Here we usually see it as a story that is not meant to be taken seriously
-significant and staying power are two essential things that myths show that is why they keep the stories going after thousands and years
- We see a lot of myths as origin stories where they describe how the world started
- we see many cultures have stories of how the world and the people in it came to be and why they exist
- this is a vast subject to tackle considering there are science and religion that fight against these myth stories
- we believe that these stories where the way that people expressed their opinion and thoughts freely and to create a more interesting account.
- these stories give a lot of historical meaning which is why they are carried on from generation to generation
- the language cant be tricky in myths because they were written so long ago
- this is why myths are interpreted and changed a lot because of the open area that they leave up to their audience
Creation of Myths
- Myths describe creation as coming from nothing is why myths are uncomfortable for some people to wrap their head around
- We describe these instances as a creation from the gods, while they explain the
- they create light from the darkness, which means creating something from nothing
- They give examples of how they apply to actual myths by retelling a story that is how we know things as now
- one of the myths examples that death is the one constant things on earth
- A lot of the myths agree with the idea of evolution that life came from the sea
- this serpent and a man agree on what should be placed on this earth
- this was one idea of a myth that shows how the universe started
- this was just one of many ways where they give their two cents on how the earth was created
- Some almost seem very similar to the bible, but they changed characters and details
- The even tell myths about the big bang and time before time existed which gets you thinking
- he wants to appreciate the structural order of the stories that are related to theories
