Extra Credit Reading, Story of Medusa

-Medusa was hunted by many warriors that wanted the claim of the price of her head.
-They were turned to stone by her face
-She was only mortal of her four siblings, and was very beautiful
-She remain pure for the sake of athena
-People came to athenas temple to see medusa and all her beauty
-Athena started to notice it and became upset with medusa and became to resent her for her looks
-People were taken with medusas beautiful hair
-When Medusa was walking along the story, she was confronted by Poseiden, god of the sea.
- He liked her because of her beauty but she turned him down many times.
-If she wanted to stay in athenas temple she had to stay a virgin
-Poseiden was in a fued with athena, and saw Medusa as a possession he could steal from athena.
-He was tired of being rejected by Medusa so he decided he would take her by force
-Athena gave Medusa no protection, so Poseiden took medusa
-Athena ws displeased with Medusa so she turned her once beautiful hair into a head of venemous snakes, and make her face look ice cold
-Whoever looked in her eyes, would turn to stone
-Perceus was one to try to retrieve medusas head, but he wanted help from the gods
-the gods gave gim gifts to help him in his battle
-With the help of the gifts, he was able to behead medusa
-When she died, she was pregnant with the offspring of Poseiden
-So when she died, her child, pegesus which is the winged horse sprung from her neck.
-Medusa eyes could still turn people to stone to Perceus still used it in his battle
