For my final story for this class, I wanted to share a story about the myth of Arachne. I've recently been reading a lot of these myths or folklore stories and I actually really enjoy them. So I might consider taking Laura's other class that focuses on myths. Ahhhhh... The story of Arachne. We have heard of lots of instances in the mythological world where Gods can transform into other things such as animals or another life form. This is common within their world and most of the time provides them an advantage. Within that there are still mortals that can undergo contortions but they are often unwanted and cursed upon them. Arachne was a young beautiful lady who had a great talent of weaving the most divine threads. People from her town always come to watch her spin her thread and create glorious pieces of art. I used the crash course video and wrote my thoughts over the video. To start, the video mentions that the topics of Mythology are endless; he describes it as mixing a bunch of different ice cream flavors and slapping a name on it. Many myths are very, very, very old, which is why you can hear a lot of myths told in different ways. Stories get changed over time, and events are added, changed, or taken away from the story over time to modernize it. A lot of these myths are not translated in their original form. People are still unsure about the interpretation of these stories or why they exist. Myth has a blurry line with religion, and it hard to separate them because of their variety of stories. In some myth stories, it explains the origins of life or what we call an "origin story." It contains content for why our earth has these instances, such as why the flowers grow, where the sunsets. Long ago, there was a king called Uttanapada, who had two wives, Suniti and Suruchi. Suniti was not a rich woman who often seemed sad, while Suruchi was young, charming, and lived a life of lush and fortune. Suniti had a boy named Dhruva, and Suruchi had a son named Uttama. The Giant Squid, Google search Once in a large lake lived a giant squid that was larger than a queen-size bed, and its tentacles reached over fifty feet long. He was an unusual squid because he was the only squid in the whole world that could live in freshwater. Although he often felt lonely because there was no other fish in this lake beside him because he just ate them all. He ate everything that came near the lake, which is why he was so large. He ate anything that came to take a sip of water, such as deer, elk, elephants, lions, and many more animals. He ate so many animals he gained a reputation among the animal kingdom. Together they were both penniless and had little help. Sudhama could not work enough to provide for all five of his children. Once upon a time there was a dog named pip. Upon being dropped off at puppy school, pip quickly was thrown into routine. He tried his best to follow in the other puppies’ footsteps however he wasn’t as successful. After stumbling into the dog hall of fame room, pip envisioned himself as the alpha dogs presented in portraits on the walls. From this point on, pip was determined to be the best service dog. His work ethic was unmatched however his results still slacked. Test day came around and it was pip’s turn to perform everything he had learned. Long ago there was a great powerful monkey who ruled the banks in the river of Beneres. He has many daily duties that required him to travel back and fourth form different islands that required him to jump from the safety of his bank to the brim of this rock that was risen from the water. He would jump across every morning to collect his food and complete his daily duties of grooming, hunting, and occasional naps. One particular day one of the monkeys rivals, a deadly crocodile arose from the depths of the water accompanied with his mate. The crock lurked the bank with obscurity and intentions of harm. The monkey still went about his day as normal. The mate of the croc said she would like nothing more than the heart of the monkey to enjoy for a feast. She was unable to hunt for herself since she has been with her young. The manly croc accepted the challenge of conquering his long time enemy to impress his mate.
