Week 2 Story

Image
Long ago there was a great powerful monkey who ruled the banks in the river of Beneres. He has many daily duties that required him to travel back and fourth form different islands that required him to jump from the safety of his bank to the brim of this rock that was risen from the water. He would jump across every morning to collect his food and complete his daily duties of grooming, hunting, and occasional naps. One particular day one of the monkeys rivals, a deadly crocodile arose from the depths of the water accompanied with his mate. The crock lurked the bank with obscurity and intentions of harm. The monkey still went about his day as normal. The mate of the croc said she would like nothing more than the heart of the monkey to enjoy for a feast. She was unable to hunt for herself since she has been with her young. The manly croc accepted the challenge of conquering his long time enemy to impress his mate. The croc pondered ideas on the best method to catch the monkey and notice

Reading: Week Two Anthology

Bibliography: Vanarinda Jataka, in The Jataka: Volume 1 translated by Robert Chalmers, The Crocodile in The River This takes place a story of the past during a story of the present where Buddha is a monkey and is plotting against by a crocodile. He starts off by mentioning that this is not the first time Devadatta has plotting against him and begins to tell a story of the past to his fellow monks. The  Bodhisatta reincarnated as a monkey and was large and strong. Every day the monkey took the same pattern from the island he rested on from a rock and another piece of land. We now see the monkey has developed a habitual routine of going from this rock to the land. The crock in this story has a mate that asked him to do her a favor by catching this monkey for her pleasure, so the crock perches on the rock to wait for the monkey-king to arrive back. The Bodhisatta noticed the change in the rocks height and calls to the rock and the crock returned with an answer back revealing his true in

Week Two, Reading Overview

Image
I have choosen option two of the Ramayana: the PDE. Mostly because I would like to read it and experience it as an audio tape as well. If you read and listen to something, you call recall details of the story better. I also like that its online so no need to leave my house. I would most likely enjoy the story of  Shiva Parvati  because I enjoy the topic of reincarnation and want to read a story about that topic. I also enjoy a good love story! The other comic that caught my eye is the  ancestors of rama . I enjoyed the summary of the story and think I would be intrested in that type of story or sacrafice. The first video that caught my eye was the was  The Story of Diwali  because I still watch cartoons and animated movies because they make me happy. The other video im imtretsed in is the  Underwater Cities . Im intrested in the city of Atlantis and Its always been one of my top wonders since watching Waterworld (1995). I enjot this picture because there is so much going on an

Time Strategies

Image
This will be my first class where you are given a weeks worth of assignments and told to manage them on your own time which I enjoy very much because I never know what is going to pop up in the day. I just started my new job as a server and asked for 15-20 hours a week and ended up getting 35 hours for just this week and a going to school full time. So, obviously this was unplanned so I will be doing work here and there when I can. I think this class will actually help me stick with my time management and staying on schedule like it mentioned in the  business insider  article. If you don't plan you won't ever get down a solid time management schedule. This article caught my attention from the title;  Eat The Frog First Thing In The Morning . I remember my mom always trying to get me up for school and saying ill feel much better when I get out of bed. I can't believe to this day how right she was. It's much better to do your work in the morning and get your big stuff ou

Technology Introduction

Image
I am most excited about learning about new methods of technology. I have always wanted to learn more techniques on my computer so I'm glad this class will help me with things around the spectrum. The only thing Ive previously done before this class is use image editing. I'm most excited for the website that helps you with your writing from the comfort of your computer. I would like to improve on my writing and editing skills this semester! This is what I though of when Laura was talking about her learning different computer skills growing up

Assignments Impressions

Image
My first about impression on the work load is that it is very consistent but very interesting. I've been wanting to improve my writing skills so I'm excited for what I come up with for my story telling. I'm mostly interested in our final project because the articles I read of other people looked very intresting. Just hoping I can create something as good as them! I think for the extra credit I'm most interested in HEART assignment and the extra commenting because I would like to engage with people and get to know them! Hello All!

Growth Mindset

Image
This was the first time for me hearing of Carol Deweck and the power of growth mindset. I have heard of similar topics but never in this context. I believe it is a topic worth talking about because it involves how people raise their children and the mindset they grow up with. I think that I fall on the level between the easy mid set and the growth mindset, but I think it depends on the subject and how interested in it I am. For example... I really enjoy this class because I get to express my own opinion and each assignment is up to your own imagination so I work hard on these assignments because its something to be proud of. However, in classes like organic chemistry where it is really challenging sometimes, i found myself really discouraged and felt like a failure because I was only rewarding the end result and not my progress throughout the course. I do feel like Carol is missing a few key points to her argument. Americas schooling is in no way perfect, and we have certain standards

Introduction To A Future Pharmacist

Image
A picture of my dog Noah and I. Hi All! My name is Jennifer, and I'm from Mustang Oklahoma which is roughly 40 minutes away. I'm a junior here at OU and I'm majoring in biology and plan on attending pharmacy school. When I started college I really wanted to be a marine biologist but that was shut down really quick when I realize we are in a land-locked state (lol.) I still hope to fulfill that dream and move somewhere where I can study the processes of marine life! My number one accomplishment of last semester was making straight A's, it was the first one in a long time and it was a lot of work but definitely worth it. I now have a job so i hope i can get my time management on track so I can spend more time with school this semester because I notice college is literally flyyyyingggg by. Some of my favorite things to do in my spare time is watching TV, play with makeup or play with my dogs.  One of my top TV shows right now is "Wentworth" which is a num

Storybook Favorites

https://sites.google.com/site/ramavssita/the-trial-begins Title: The Trial Begins I have read a little on this subject in high school and see an occurring theme between arranged marriages and happiness in Indian culture. I know that India has one of the lowest divorce rates because most of their marriages are arranged and it's very hard to get a divorce if you'd like one. This story seems to be taking place in the past where a woman is torn between two men but faces death if she does not become the wife of the leader. I like how this story is just a clip out of something and jumps right into the plot... I loved reading this little short story. I also enjoyed the navigation of the page, it was simple and easy to work through. https://sites.google.com/view/ganesha-lord-of-new-beginnings/introduction Title: Shivani's Storybook I also liked this page because it's very personal to her and she talks about her culture a lot. She also left a cute diagram to explain t

Tuscon, Arizona- My favorite place

Image
Hi All! One of my top favorite places I have ever been is Tuscon. It's always extremely hot there, but its all worth it. It's a city that is surrounded by mountains, and you can literally smell when it's going to rain and that's crazy to me. My cousins live out there and it's one of my top places to go. Morning runs are my favorite out there while the sun is coming out because its just cool enough to go outside and exercise. My family visits Mt Lemmon every time we go out there and it never gets old. The temperature change is insane, one minute its 102 degrees and when you get to the top is 70 degrees. My favorite part is all the tall trees, towering over you like a skyscraper. I can't express enough how much I love this city.  On one of the edges, such a beautiful view.

What are some blog worthy events?

Hi All! This will be the first time I have ever blogged and was wondering if anyone has any insite on what is a worthy blogging experience. Do all your topics have the same subject or do you just write random things on your blog? Ive always wanted to blog because I feel like its liek expressing your opinion on things in a more private/personal matter. I would like to take this up as a hobby so if anyone has any advice for me let me know. JC
