Feedback Strategies

Image
In this first article, I read about feedback was the topic of children being praised for the effort itself and completing the end task, but have we missed the point of rewards? In the  article , they are mentioning a professor who rewarded kids just for trying to accomplish something, which we learned back in week one that this creates many problems. Some growth mindsets of children are fixated on just getting by, and if we start to give them positive feedback just for trying to accomplish a task, we won't be raising children ready for the harsh world where you have to work very hard for any reward you want. We should reward success, not the idea of doing your best because if we don't, we would be doing an injustice to our kids of these ages. I think setting them up for positive feedback is not a bad thing, but I also believe we shouldn't be so easy on them just because of their age or feelings. They will most likely have a more prosperous life with a strict requirement to...

Topic Brainstorm Project Week 3

Image
For my first topic i'm intrested in, I would like to start with Sita , one of the goddesses of India. Reading about this woman of idea made me draw interest in her because she is one of the most important characters in the Ramayana. I did not have any prior knowledge of this woman before I read the story but I enjoy a good love story so thats why she caught my attention in the first place. I would like to tell a story about more of her personal life, like a diary almost but with the mindset of today's dating. Like how she and Rama met and the story of how they fell in love. My next topic I think I could have a fun time writing about is the  Asia Elephant . They are already one of my favorite animals so I would enjoy writing a story-line to go about their life. I have a little knowledge of elephants already, such as their life spans and breeding natures. I would like to tell a story about one of the Ramayana characters reincarnating into an elephant and create a whole new sto...

Week ThreeStorytelling, Rama The Great Shrek

Image
Once Upon A Time... There was an ugly beast named Rama; he lived alone in a swamp after his father Dasharatha had banished him from his home. He liked living alone and never wanted any company. He spends his days eating worms and snails while enjoying his mud baths. One day he was going about his day when he noticed that there was a great spirit upon him. He called out to see who was with him and the sense called out with a powerful force. The spirit told him he was destined to do great things and that he had a task to fulfill. The spirit told him of a princess, Sita, that was locked away in a tower, and her only hope to get out alive, she needed to be saved by a bold warrior. There was a sizeable fire-spitting dragon guarding her for the rest of her days. Rama listened to the spirt and headed out on his journey. He walked for three days to reach his destination. When he arrived, he saw the tall tower surrounded by a flaming lava moat. The dragon was an enormous size and roared wit...

Extra Credit Reading Notes

Image
My topics I want to bring up are related to this class, but I might put my twist on them to make them relate to things I'm interested in. I love hearing about random things and googling them later on and knowing so much about the topic. Reincarnation is something I've always wondered was real or if it's just a myth. I like to think that it is true because that means people and animals can live different lives and not only spend their next experience in nothing. I don't have any prior knowledge on the topic, but I know in Indian epics there are many instances where there is reincarnation that serves a purpose. Most of the idea of rebirth is from Indian religion, and some belief in an afterlife if they don't believe in the idea of reincarnation. This might be my highest topic of interest in this story because I want to learn more about. I read most of the information about this topic on this  Wikipedia  page. This next topic I want to incorporate is some inte...

Famous Last Words- Week 3

Image
This week has been very busy for me, and I feel like I never get a break, but I finally feel like I'm getting back into the grove of doing schoolwork every day. My note-taking for Ramayana was a little all over the place in the beginning, and I felt like I was making too many detailed notes, but I think I managed to get the hang of it after the amount of reading and understanding of the story. I honestly think the most useful thing that helped me understand the story a little better because I'm a visual learner was a kids video about the  Ramayan . It showed a lot of extra footage that helped me visualize the character better. Other than the misunderstanding of the story, I enjoyed the story. It seems like a lot going on like they could incorporate the story into a series of books or movies.  This week has been pretty crazy for me, I sold my ticket for the Houston/OU game for $80 and just went to hang out with some of my friends instead. I also worked about six days last ...
